To give a little background, I work at a small casino in the Midwest that just opened up on memorial day of 2006. Craps was slow during the week so someone came up with the idea of putting in the tub to save on dealer hours. Yeah, it saved on dealer hours but since then we've had several craps dealers quit because of it. Now we have to deal on this during the week (the real one is open only on Friday and Saturday night) and none of the players like it. We've lost a few big players, too. But we have some big competition only 90 miles away, so it might not all be our fault.
Anywho, to explain Mini to anyone who hasn't seen it, its shaped like a bath tub and its run by one person. You are stick and dealer. On ours, there are 7 racks carved out but only room to (barely) fit 6 place bets. So on the occasion that we do get that 7th player, its quite the pain. I have to set up the 7th bet on the vertical lines instead. Then you throw come bets into the mix and oh its so much fun!
Our prop section is BIGGER than the one on the "real" table, so there is no rhyme or reason to where you put a hardway bet, which is bad for your breaker. I, as a very short person, can not even reach the horn on the table, so I have to push bets there with the stick and grab them with that.
People are always splashing their chips into my place bets causing massive chaos (on my part). Since it is not shaped anything like the real table, it is a pain for me to even pay the passline. I have to twist and turn my body in wrong wrong ways. Plus, I have to stand over the bank to even set up the place bets, so its easy to mess up those stacks if you lean in too far. Working stacks can't be over 20 chips tall since I always knock into those, and everyone knows small working stacks can slow the game down.
I hate come bets. More often then not the player doing come bets just chucks their chip into the come, not hitting anywhere close to the come but instead killing all of my place bets.
Players, used to the 14 footer, chuck the dice 90 miles an hour and they end up hitting the wall that they were thrown from. I laugh inside when people try setting the dice on this thing. It is so padded near the BGT (big green thing) that there is no way you could control your throw, they bounce and tumble like no other.
The only thing the tub is good for is going in my basement. I'd love to have it at home but I hate running the thing.
