The best shot |
Lead | ||
|
Player walks up to a game and throws a $100 bill and says "80 red and 20 aces". Two craps aces rolls. "$620 and down please". Or a seven rolls. "$400 and down please"

come up to the table put $100 bill in the field but when you set it down put a purple underneath. "no action on the cash" if a field roll hits say "pay me in black please" if it doesnt you threw that purple in for cheque change.
another one would be $51 pause no nine, see if they set it up as $51 in w/ no nine or $51 lay no nine. 7 hits you know what you bet, any other number rolls you know what you bet... |

Wow. Good thing cash doesn't play here.
The best one I've seen is a call bet with cheques immediately as the dice stop on the opposite end. If the dealer's not hawking the dice they're distracted by the call bet and don't realize the dice have stopped when they book it. Like a breath of midnight air. Like a lighthouse, like a prayer.

Jesus, I'll be looking for all of the above whenever I sit box now. Thank God my crew also knows how to properly book bets, say 'Change only, no action', and my personal favorite: 'NO BET'.
Yoda sez: 'Much to learn, you still have'. Please sir, one hand, like at home, ok?

I've seen some of the "shots" mentioned above, it is amazing how quickly you figure out how to
'Change only, no action', and my personal favorite: 'NO BET'
There should be no successful shots. Ever.
All checks placed or thrown on cycle-legal, self-service betting spaces are bets (on those spaces), unless otherwise CLEARLY instructed by the player and acknowledged by a table employee. All illegal "bets" are, of course, always no bet. Al checks thrown or placed off self-service betting spaces have no action, unless CLEARLY stated by the player and acknowledged by a table employee. Anything that looks like odds, is odds, up to the max, unless accompanied by table employee acknowledged and booked instructions to the contrary. Anything that doesn't look like odds, isn't odds, unless booked as odds. Box or floor decision final (scope decided before opening). No cash has action unless accompanied by CLEAR and table employee acknowledged and booked instructions. All ambiguous call bets are No Bet, until clarified and booked (up until the dice land), and the money is visible. All call bets still ambiguous when the dice land are bets as booked (repeated) by the dealer. Sorry, learn how to bet properly. If in doubt, NO BET everything not self-service that hasn't already been booked. In the event of a dispute, the property-accepted craps vocabulary will take precedence over all other vocabularies. That vocabulary should be agreed upon internally before opening (e.g., "Red" will mean one thing or it will mean nothing). The player has the responsibility to learn what means what, or bet early. Shots are a myth on a professional craps table. |

The players that get away with the most shots are the ones with the biggest credit lines. If you bet gold and flag, you can do almost anything you like on a game. We even had one player who refused to pay the vig on the 10 and 4. A big player can claim "I always bet the 5 for $1000" and management will give it to him. Management is afraid they'll lose his action so they give him a couple of freebies. So shots happen all the time no matter how professional and well trained a crew is.

Those aren't shots. Those are comp requests with a side of whine. All perfectly legitimate in the case of the highroller. He just uses the vehicle of the craps game to dress up what is really "Hey, I'm losing a lot. Give me $1000 to make me feel better." That has nothing to do with the table crew's professionalism. Their manner and demeanor in giving him the grand, however, does.

NSB, you're stating the obvious-procedure is there for a reason!-but I totally agree with you on all points. It kills me that people actually get away with shots like those.

Gimme three-hi-two-yo. So what is it? Is it three dollars on the twelve and two on the yo or is it a four dollar horn bet?
