The first thing you have to develop as a poker dealer is a very thick skin. The only proper way to handle the razzing this guy is giving you is to act as if you don't hear it, treat hime exactly the same as you do every other player, and prove him wrong. I regularly ignore things said at the poker table that I would punch someone's lights out for saying on the street. That's just the nature of the business.

When you deal poker, you aren't you; you're an extension of the casino you work in. Your purpose is to run the game, and to do everything within reason to enhance the guests' experience at the casino. Unless someone's behavior rises to the level of actual abuse, you're supposed to not react to it.

That was a hard thing for me to learn. Intellectually, I got it right away, but I don't take crap off of anybody; an attitude that is in direct conflict with what the casino expects of me in the box. For a long time, while I never reacted at the table, I'd seethe and simmer for a long time afterwards. Not emotionally healthy.

I ran across a saying that helped a lot. "No offense occurs when none is taken." If you let what people do, or say, bother you, you are giving them tremendous power over you. If you just let it roll on by, it has no effect on you at all, and they have no power over you. It's a hard path to follow, but, I've found the better I do at it, the happier I am.

When you sit down at a table, focus on doing a good job. Run the game correctly and efficiently. He can say anything he likes, but, if you deal a down to a table he's at, badmouthing you all along, the players will notice that you acted professionally and made no mistakes, and eventually, they'll be the ones who tell him to STFU.
