The Red River is usually pretty low, but the flood gates were open up stream and the river was deeper than I have ever seen it. It was within a few feet of the bottom of the I-35 bridge.
I suggestted he blame being late on the weather. Saying something like the bridge was narrowed to one lane and traffic was backed up.
