Sorry about not getting the info

Hey all, I've been off for 4 days and back in the Cape. Several people have emailed me about the job fair on the 12th. I will be going to work tomorrow and I will find out all that I can. What beachdealer says is probably true about the Tampa job fair. That is how they did it in Hollywood, by invitation only. I'm not sure how the out of state job fairs went down but I know all kinds of people that got their job that way so I will ask them if they had to make an appointment or just showed up. I will post tomorrow night around 10est with the info that I get tomorrow. Peace. Matt

When they had the out of state job fair back in the spring it was an open call. They ran an ad in the Sunday paper. People who showed up were interviewed,
offered a position based on stated experience (no auditions here), given drug tests and completed gaming paperwork.

Could this be the job fair Aug 12th everyone is talking about?

I spoke to someone in Tampa HR and they said this was not a table games job fair. But who knows. |

That is why they are going to have auditions this time around for Tampa. They are going to do it different this time

Beachdealer, thank you for the info. Personally, I don't have a problem passing their auditions. Why are they so concerned about experienced dealers not
knowing Paigow and Mini Bacc? How many Paigow and Mini Bacc. tables are they going to have? I think that they should be more concerned about hiring
OUSTANDING BJ Dealers who can get hands out without making too much mistakes. These games are not hard at all. You can take any experienced dealers and teach
them Paigow and Mini Bacc. in two or three weeks for both games. Also, I hope that the Hardrock's recruiters will time their job fairs right. I am a
single individual without any social obligations and it wouldn't be hard for me to pick things up at the end of this year and move. I don't think that
they will have the luxury to pick and choose their golds if they don't time it right. Dealers too are PEOPLE

Some opinions from the inside

OK, they are concerned about you being able to deal BJ but in the grand scheme of things finding a good BJ dealer isn't difficult. I believe that Tampa
will be different then here but here the Pai Gow and Bacc games are jammed. Part of this is because they only have two midi-bacc and 3 Pai Gow tables but we
have a very large Asian community here so you know what that means. They are already planning on adding more bacc tables so the need will be even greater.
Now, for the 450 in house dealers. I can understand why some would think this was a concern, it concerns me as well. Someone left a comment on my blog about how she wasn't going to go to Tampa because of the breakins. For starters, I don't believe for one second that they are going to give 450 breakins a job. Just because they are going through training doesn't mean they are going to hire them. The management at the Hard Rock has been first class with most of our top managment coming from AC or Vegas. They have shown a willingness to take care of the dealers and do the righ thing by the company. In Hollywood they are running a class for in house people that only has 60 people in it. This would be about 10 percent of the dealing jobs and not all of those in class are going to make it. Using this as a guide, I'm guessing that Tampa will have about 100 breakins since that will be about 10 percent of the dealers. You have to understand that as a company it's important that they give their current employee's a chance to get to better jobs. I know that as experienced dealers we think that everyone should have to start at the bottom and spend months at the El Cortez but a company can't think like that. It is part of what makes the Hard Rock a good company to work for. They take care of their people when they can. If you have thinking about whether or not to come to Tampa ask yourself how well you house takes care of you? Will they go the extra mile to make sure you have an opportunity to better yourself? This is going to be a great job in a great place to live. Who dares, wins Matt www.idealcrap.com |

great info thus far!! Thanks guys... keep it up!

Glad this thread really took off! Wow, I guess it's bad news for my friend as far as the Tampa job fair goes, as she is NOT on the "invite" list
yet.
I told her she really needed to FAX a new app. in, since word has it that app's are often thrown out after a month. She works in Biloxi now, so of course it would be a lot easier for her to drive to Tampa for a job fair, as opposed to flying out to Vegas or California. She deals all 3 games, (BJ, mini-bacc, and Pai gow), and is a great gal, so let's all root for her!! p.s. Anybody know about when that Vegas job fair is supposed to be? My friend will fly out to Vegas if she has to, but of course she is really hoping for the Tampa job fair "invite". I sure HOPE they have room to invite a few more good people!!!???!!!

Alright....Matt. We can go on... and on....about the pros.... and the cons.... on the practice of hiring the inexperienced dealers only. I am aware that as a company they will do whatever that they have to do to keep it profitable. Are they really going to have a job fair in Vegas? I don't think it's going attract too many dealers. If Vegas's dealers have to make a choice between (part-time) at the Hardrock and (full/pt, 20% tip stolen) at the Encore, which one do you think that they will go for? I would deffinately take any position at the Encore in a NY minute. Anyway, it would be more productive for the Hardrock to have their job fairs in the southern region such as Shreveport, Billoxi, Tulsa...etc. There are hungry dealers in this region that looking to get out of their working conditions and they will be more willing to take their shots at this chance. Like you said in your post "who dares, wins" or loose? |

ellen4441.biddingfortravel |
I agree with you, Cascadian..
|
As I feel that most of the Vegas dealers they would attract would be towards the end of their careers, just looking for a nice little finish..
She is sure hoping for a Tampa open job fair in Biloxi... some more post-Katrina sympathy is still really needed.... please?!?! |

Ellen4441, I totally agree with you. As a company, it would be better to avoid hiring a punch of dealers and suits that came from the same casinos or areas. It will be a perfect breeding ground for unfair treatments, favoritism, bias, corruptions and then HR issues. Personally, I've experienced the above extreme pressures in the workforce. My point is dealers/suits who come in a team will eventually leave the casino as a team for whatever reasons ($$$$, new frontier, etc..) It would be more advantaged for a casino to hire dealers/suits from all over the country, all kind of different backgrounds as long as they have communication and people skills. You can teach someone how to do his/her job but you can't teach him/her morals. |

Since I left Vegas in 2001 I haven't really been in the loop there since I had no desire to go back. What do you mean by ft/pt dealers at the Encore
having 20% of their tips stolen?

Matt, would u please give us some updates on the Tampa's Hardrock? I have $1500 invested in the job fairs held in Vegas. It would be nice if they give us
some sort of notice letters via emails or postal and let us know that they're processing our applications or something.......

From what I understand they are going to be sending us out a letter a month or so after the job fair and then we will have to be out there in 4-5 weeks.
I finally was able to convince my wife that it''s in our best interests for me to pursue this path. I think it will be interesting how many people end up turning the job down. I just feel it is too good of an opportunity to pass up. It is definately tough for many people because they either have kids, a house etc.. Long term I think it is going to be the best thing for us short term this is going to be very tough. |
