Member Posts: 150 06/30/08 07:01	I was in the "high limit" salon the other day. AND of course, I was dealing to an A-Hole. I had to tolerate this SOB's MF, @%…GD's, you suck etc, etc. etc. and the "why can't you give me f******ing hand. Why can't you f********ing let me win, you "C"?……….All the suits were behind me and NOT ONE WORD………….. from the suits. I've been in this business long enough to know what to expect and accept when BIG money is in play………………… What I do not and will not expect and accept is: the A-Hole player's HOST comes up to the table, watch a few hands, look at me and says "Yeah,,,-------, why can't you F***ing let him win a hand?" I am stunned and furious. I have been off work since this incident. I feel that the host was unprofessional and out of line. I can take this crap from players, but from a co-worker? Am I making a mountain out of a molehill? Am I being too sensitive? Should I just let this be? This is really bothering me and I feel I should take it further. I am not one who cries to the boss for anything. I do not "rat" on others. If something bothers me, I confront that** individual and resolve the issue. Member Posts: 282 06/30/08 09:04	you don't have to take the abuse from players or co-workers. sexual harassment laws apply to everyone, and if your employer refuses to take corrective action after being told of the situation, then you have the basis for a lawsuit (IMHO.)

Since I took all his money and stopped taking everything personal a long time ago, I did not had a problem with that. What really bothered me was that after the player left my table, the shift boss came over and said "Well, what an unfriendly individual. I do not understand people who are nasty just because they are losing some hands. I was about to tell him, that he should stop his swearing...". The guy was standing five feet from my table for an hour and tells me this BS after the player left?!?!? I do not agree with denquixote's reply. Lawsuit? C'mon! Sure, there are the laws, but this is like getting a job at KFC and then sue them because you have a chicken allergy?!? We are paid to take the players money. If they are not happy when the lose, it's human. I am not saying that you have to accept everything, but a host is also just doing his or her job. That is "to please customers", make them play longer and higher and return frequently to lose even more of their money. Don't take it personal - stay above it!

Member Posts: 339 06/30/08 02:56	I am not saying that you have to accept everything, but a host is also just doing his or her job. It is NOT the hosts job to chime in with a comment like that. The host needs to be aware of the situation. If a player is losing and cussing at a dealer, the host should be compassionate to the player and have an optimistic view of the situation, therefore encouraging the player to continue playing. The host should not add fuel to the fire by dropping the MF bomb to the dealer! I would have said something to my floor or pit, to make them aware of the unprofessional behavior of the host.

Member Posts: 224 06/30/08 10:04	I think this is unacceptable behavior and the floor for one should have stepped in and told the player to ease up on the verbal attack on the dealer. Plain as that. I also think the host should be reprimanded for chiming into this unacceptable verbal dialogue... there are other ways a host is able to handle this sort of situation as they accepted this position and should have all their rebuttles in place for such incidences. If I were you... I would first document the incident on paper to the best of your memory and then carry out to suggest some sort of resolve or alternate future response to similar episodes .. perhaps human resources could be a start as they may start a paper trail as to the complaint that highups can and will be trained to stand by and try to diffuse these sort of incidences. It is truly not a good thing that you must endure this type of abuse. We are the financial messengers for some unfortunately and some of these recipients are taking it all too personally. I, for one, wish they would look to their own selves as the culprit of their own actions.

Member Posts: 599 07/01/08 07:00	I would be furious at the host for berating me in such fashion in front of a player, thereby giving the green light for the player to continue with his verbal assault. Given the opportunity, I would confront the host in a one on one situation with no witnesses around. I would then advise him that if he ever were to do that again, i would rip his throat out so he will never be able to host again.

That will teach him not to +#%$ with others people livelihoods (before some assholes decided to +#%$ with someone else livelihoods, they need to think of the possibility that they will get @%##$#* whack when they get out of work) Is it worth of loosing your life over powers? and of course, to some it is. I heard of some cases that people get f****ng killed for being a bully at work.

What's next, a fresh hot cup of coffee thrown at the dealers face, followed by another one, courtesy of the Casino Host? Me, I don't let these types of players bother me. Cool people losing money torments me, A-holes are just a break from that. But a coworker? I do wonder what our limits are, though. A friend of mine who was dealing to someone verbally abusive, quietly finished his hour. Then, after he was tapped out, calmly exits the pit, walks over to the guy in question and whispers in his ear "feel free to say anything you want now". Needless to say, the guy didn't feel the need to verbalize any further. And if he complained, nobody did, or said, anything.

Member Posts: 60 07/02/08 06:05	I dunno, I'm kinda torn on this one. As a dealer I will often rally the table against a supervisor or box, for entertainment value and because it makes my job easier. It takes the pressure off of me when the players lose and that way they don't start to rethink their tokes. It's something like: Player: Jesus fcking christ, you haven't let me win one double down hand! WTF man?! This fcking sucks. Me: I know man, this f*cking floor walks by every time you double, that guy is the kiss of death. Now suddenly the player isn't blaming you, he's blaming somebody else. And now he thinks you're really aware of the situation and that you're truly on his side. My job is so much easier when the player thinks I'm on their side. Yes, someone else might need to be thrown under the bus to get there, but that's the biz. I'll do it to supervisors, dealers, cocktail waitresses, anybody, and I'll (for the most part) keep quiet when they do it to me, because I understand. Then when they finally get that 10 on their 11 double down, I'll say "Hey Jimmy (floor), 21! No bonus for you this week." Now the player is really having a good time and I'm getting tokes. So, if I was in your situation I would've just let the comment go, maybe shrugged my shoulders and said "Rough stuff." The most I would've said is "Yeah, ever since they offered me that profit-sharing program, nobody has been winning."

Member Posts: 23 07/02/08 12:50	I've only used faceless scapegoats, and only in a light-hearted manner. I certainly would not scapegoat a coworker with a belligerent player. Personal choice/style, I guess. Most of the floor I've worked with were cool, and they've usually had our backs, so my experience is based on that.

I actually witnessed a fight between a pit boss and a shift boss in California a few years ago. They were both females and the incident happened at a night club on their days off. The shift boss was one of my friends but we are no longer friends. She was a major Btch that used her boyfriend authority to abuse her co-workers and I mean, she would lied just to get other people in troubles and loose their jobs. I mean, she got a real problem. There were like 6 of us at the night club and none of us helped her. We all thought that she needed that ass wipping in order to be a better person. And I mean this b***tch was someone that goes to church on every Sunday. Anyway, when we got back to work, her boyfriend which was the Director questioned us and we denied everything. She came back to work a few days later with a brand new attitude.
