Here's my analogy:
Take a frog, THROW him into a pot of HOT water and he'll immediately jump out!
- He recognizes the danger immediately and takes self preservation steps to remedy the situation.
Now, take the same frog and SET him into a pot of COOL water, then SLOWY turn up the heat.
- The frog won't recognize the dire situation he's in until it's too late. He'll sit there until he boils to death.
So as long as "change" isn't brought in too rapidly, no one will notice until it's too late.
"Hey! Remember when they used to have 'change girls' for slot machines? Remember when actual 'coins' would tumble out of the slot machine and tink, and rattle in the pan underneath!?! Boy! Those were the days. Girls would actually walk around and sell cigarette's to people on the floor. I miss those days."
Now try this on for size.
"Hey! Remember when table games actually had human dealers? Boy! Those were the days."
It doesn't sound so ridiculous now, does it?
See, we've had a tremedous amount of change over the years, but it was done so slowly that no one really noticed. It also helps when theings are done uniformly across the board.
I don't think we had this scenario to worry about until Harrah's started gobbling up the industry. Now if a Harrah's type casino was to institute some sort of drastic change, it would affect 50% of the industry.
Then, everyone else would follow their lead. They're the most successful, so they're the smartest. They set the example that the rest of the casino-world follows.
It's as easy as that. Presto-Chango! No more human dealers.
So to the folks out there that didn't understand all of the "Harrah's Bashing" that used to go on here at this site... now you do. Or at least, you should.
Corporations want to eliminate as much of the human element as possible so that their stock will sell at a higher amount. It's that simple. Ir you're on top of this food chain, it's great! If not, prepare for famine.
