This is a fun thread! Transition to me that is the key word regarding our future.Many big problems lie ahead of us.I would agree all day long that oil is a
very serious problem My guess is most people have no idea how manyn products in there home are petroleum based .From the carpet on their floorto the pulls on
their cupboards .I however do not believe this is an unsolveable problem and could be transitioned into fairly smoothly if we had a government that had an
ounce of competance or a genuine altruistic outlook.No doubt to me electricity well take up the slack.Worst case scenario is nuclear power well have to be used
.But the fact is that technology already exists and has sam\ns 2 very well known cases very safe.Seattle for one is a city that uses electric buses throughout
the city.That could eat up much slack in other towns where people can no longer afford to drive.I was watching the other day a show on this very subject and
one physicist knowing of how incredibly inefficient cars went about building a car that was 300% more efficient using carbon fiber for the chasis and
panels,gee who would have thought a product used in F1 and speeds of over 200mph would be a good idea.My point?There are answers there are fall backs.The lack
of planning for the transition,having a political system that breeds corruption from all sides ,and a media that is forever looking to scare the crap out of
everyone ,that well help bring on NSBs picture of the future not the lack of real solutions.
Look at our political system .Literally ever problem we have comes at their hands .From our enormous debt to the current foreclosure problem.The practices that were occuring were well known. Some predicted this very thing would occur,but did those who claim to be" leaders "stand up and say whoa .people ,this is a very bad thing your doing?Back when Clinton was president and the tech boom was raging ,Wall st couldnt keep up it was so good.All bullshit!People lost their life savings ,company after company went tits up,all the while you could turn on any business news show and hear some expert claim PROFIT IS NO LONGER NECESSARY IN THE NEW ECONOMY.Our best and brightest!Me I think the only solution to our problems and hopes for our futures is to see things implemented like term limits .No more professional politicians. Not like experience means anything anyway.I think to truly fix things one has to let go .Realize that human nature is corrupt and impliment policies that change the system and simply dont allow the temptations to be realized
