Member Posts: 978 (05/01/08 06:33) Moderator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Well its official they are going to halt the WSOP when they get to the final table and wait until November so they can broadcast the event close to live. Well dealers how do you figure your getting paid now? Are they going to hold the tokes until the end of the event? You go with out pay for months . . . (are they giving you the interest on this money?) Or are they going to pay before the event ends? If so are they holding back any money for the dealers at the final table? How much? what if tradition breaks and someone at the final table actually leaves something? Are they going to mail you another check? Plus now there 3-4 months for people to discourage them from tipping (for some reason a bunch of pros seem to think its there duty to tell people not to tip). I see the dealers getting screwed in this deal.

The fatique and long hours of playing is part of the main event, it should be played all the way through. I don't know about you guys but before i started dealing I use to love watching poker on TV. I find it so boring now.

A lot of dealers were upset with Brandon Cantu not tipping at the Bay 101, and he was called out for it. A lot of pros such as Gavin Smith spoke up saying that it is wrong not to tip after winning a lot of money in tournament especially if the tourney does not hold back any part of the buy-in for the dealers. You're pretty much labeling pros as jerks saying they will try and stiff the dealers. If I am not mistaken Jaime Gold, Greg Raymer, and Joe Hachem left fair tips. Also, players are not required to tip at the WSOP especially since dealers already get paid to deal there. PSand, while I enjoy your incite and knowledge about being a dealer on this forum you seem to extremely critical of players and somewhat jaded.

And those I have dealt to in cash games have tipped me reasonably. I find poker players (pros and amateurs ) to gnerally be very generous people , and I appreciate that. However for the past several years their have been incidences of pro's interjecting themselves at the WSOP to persuade the winners not to leave a tip. I have a friend who tells me he was present when Joe Hachem was persuaded not to leave a tip by a well known professional. I understand that he may have tipped at some subsequent events but at the WSOP in 2005 he left 0. I understand Raymer left a tip. Jamie Gold left 0. And Jerry Yang was approached by a well known professional player who told him not to leave a tip. And on a smaller scale I frequently heard players (generally unknown players who seemed to be trying to make it as pros) at the WSOP in 2006 try persuade others not to tip. If a player doesn't want to tip, thats fine with me. But to be going out of your way to tell other players not to tip is just not acceptable, and it has been happening over the past couple of years at the WSOP.,

Is it because of the % witheld prior to the tournment they feel is to much. but what the house takes has nothing to do w/ us and they know this why make the dealer pay? are they expecting us to speak up after a very low down amount and complain?

I have heard stories of it happening in cash games, with the thought being that the pro wants the money in the player's stack where he can win it, as opposed to in the dealers pocket. I had this situation arise without a pro being involved. Regular player who was never a problem before, always tips reasonably, is courteous, doesn't get out of line is taking a beating in a game (low limit). In walks a a woman who is not a everyday player in the room but she plays enouigh that all the dealers and the regular players know her. She is a very generous tipper (shoe works in a tipping field) and she is also a loose player who dumps chips and keeps dumping them, since she is loose she wins many hands, but by the end of the night she will have dropped multiple racks. regular player is relieved to see her as he figures its his chance to get even. But he continues to get the worst of it. And shes tipping handfuls of chips at a time. And he gets real frustrated and tells her she is tipping to much. She went off on him about how they are her chips and she can tip whatever she wants to, But in this case clearly his motivatiopn in making this comment was to see mnore of her chips stay in play. (I happened to be in earshot when he got up to go smoke and the floorman approached him and said "If you ever do that again you will have to find a new place to play") In a tournament situation like this it is a little far removed from the pro having a shot at the money, so I don't really understand what moti9vated them.

Please do not fuel rumors until you have done your research. Its you who needs to do your research. You cite blog entries of people who are not associated with the WSOP dated in April as evidence that the Main Event Final table is not being delayed. Harrah's job is not to make dealers or players happy, it's to make stock holders happy. Their first obligation is to the stock holders, and if they believe the new final table format can lead to a long term benefit in terms of revenue for the company than they have obligation to try it out.
