Please I need the advice or opinion from those of you who have weathered many breakins.Ive dealt craps 5 months.Often very busy ,lots of props.I suck. Its
not that I dont know the keys or procedures.Ive paid more than 1 crazy horn bet. But,Ill be moving right along then do something incredibly stupid, go and pay
the first 2 donts on a 12 before I realize what the hell Im doing or I paid a guy 240 on his 240 (6) tonight full well knowing what it paid.Am I an idiot it
has been 5 months shouldnt I be beyond such things by now?Its often little things I do, these are better examples of my errors.I feel like maybe Im distracted
too easily maybe try to go too fast sometimes. Can anyone offer some advice tell me that Im a stereo typical breakin at 5 months or maybe craps isnt for me?Im
frustrated and my crew is getting to be as well.I generally deal 2 to 3 shifts a week if that helps you

Trying to go too fast is the cause of a lot of errors. Slow down and make sure you get it right, even if it bugs the rest of the crew. The alternative is
having to stop the game and ask players to return money, which is even slower.
Talk your game- if not for the benefit of your box, then at least for yourself. You may catch a lot of your own errors if you say what you're paying and it sounds wrong to you. It sounds like you could be an easily distracted person in general, which doesn't bode well for dealing craps. But one day it will click. Literally, it's not gradual. Everything will all of a sudden make sense one night. Give it another six months. You haven't been dealing it long enough. |

Keep your head down. Pay attention to the layout until you are tapped off of the game. Any free time that you have should be spent looking at the various bets.
Think ahead of the game. If the player has a $240 six then you should be thinking $280 before the dice ever land on six. If that player likes to press then you
should run though the various possiblities. You should think about what you will do for every posible roll of the dice. It will take time to develop the skills
necessary to become great at the game. I would say it takes most dealers at least a year to become somewhat seasoned. Don't give up. What helped me when I
was breaking in on the game was to get together with my crew after a jammed up game and discuss the nights events over a hell of a lot of beers. Accept critism
from those who are much better at dealing the game and learn from them.

Three times a week for 5 months? Man you are being too hard on yourself. My main concern is that you are getting too frustrated and would give up. Craps
dealers are break ins for 5 years. You have a long ways to go. Like the other chap said, make sure you bring your "a" game when you deal. Think
ahead, between rolls think about what you'd do if a five rolls, etc. Also to help your figuring out skills, what i'd do is when stopped at a stoplight,
i'd figure out what that number would pay on the 6 or 8, so if the plate is 841-JPG, figure out what 841 would pay on the 8..(i'd do it 600 pays 700,
240 pays 280, 1 pays one, so it'd pay 700+280+1 for 981) that really helps your mental skills if you do it on a regular basis. Trust me you have to have a
lot of bad nights to be a good craps dealer, hang in there, don't let the boxmen or the players get to you, just do your thing, don't worry about them.

Well first thankyou all very much for your insights Very helpful. My frustration lies in my inconsistancy, one minute on stick Im figuring out some ridiculous
horn bet while the box and the experienced base look like deers into headlights the next Im handing off 240 when I know its 280.Why I did it?But thankyou
againThink I needed someone to say I was riding myself too hard.

You had a brain fart. I've been dealing the game for 5 years and I still do it. Except now, I do it and say, "whoops. Brain fart." When I was
breaking in, I did it and said, "I suck. I'm never gonna get good." Then beat myself up about it for a while, the beating up made me want to
try and made me good (and I do rock, my dear

The previous posts have pretty much summed it up. But another thing to remember is, if you make a mistake on a craps game, NO ONE is going to die! I realize
that some players and some dealers/boxes act like your mistake is worthy of capital punishment. When you make a mistake, point it out, fix it quickly and move
on. Understand what you did wrong, but dont dwell on it.
