Las Vegas Sands wins bid to build Singapore's first integrated resort http://www.marinabaysands.com/ Construction Update http://www.marinabaysands.com/assets/pdf/CU0108.pdf Construction for the Marina Bay Sands integrated resort is in full swing with deep pile foundation systems installed to most areas of the site and excavation works now progressing for basement structures. The site aerial photos show two large circular reinforced concrete temporary coffer dams for Hotel Towers 1 & 2 and the traditionally strutted basement for Tower 3 now clearly visible adjacent to the ECP. The main contractor for construction of the hotel towers has now commenced works on site with superstructure works commencing to tower at present. The third and largest circular excavation closest to the bay is the first of two coffer dams being excavated for the MICE building. Marine works are visible to the bay foreshore area to support promenade substructure works and piling works occupy the remaining large land area adjacent to the bay for the arts science museum, casino, theatres and retail precincts. I think if you get caught selling an ounce of pot you get a life-long prison sentence. Should be interesting to how a casino goes down in a police state...wait, look at China, it seems casinos do quite well in police states.

I think not flussing a public toilet can bring a fine of $10,000.But singapore really has more bark then bite.My sister lived there for 5 years .They could have not loved it more.Had a maid from malaysia traveled all over S.E asia, all on a military salary .Id recommend anyone looking for a experience of a lifetime to check this out!

The only country in the world that executes a higher percentage of its citizens than Singapore is Saudi Arabia. It was really interesting reading about this. Singapore has one hangman. He once hung 18 people in a single day. He gets paid about $250 USD for each hanging. He says the following to each person he executes: "I am sending you to a better place. God bless you." I'm not in favor of the executions, but I am a huge supporter of caning. We need to implement this in Las Vegas. Think of how the sales of spray paint would plummet in this city if these gangster punks were getting caned.

I think the best way to describe the singaporeans is they run a tight ship. Simply refuse to allow many things to become problems like they are here.So they implement harsh penalties to head it off at the pass.I never one time heard any suggestion from my sister that singapore was a scary place,where fear of government thugs is a constant.She felt safe to go around the country without her husband.It really was an amazing time for them.I myself could give working there some serious thought.

During the controversy over that snot nose American kid who got the rod for spray painting some cars and street sighs, they demonstrated a martial arts expert administering a full force lash to a large phone book. needless to say the cane sunk 3/4 of the way through the pages before it came to rest. If you watch the video in the page I linked to, after the person received his 20 lashes, he was taken to receive medical attention where his rear end didn't look nearly as bad as it did while he was strapped to the post.
