Would anyone be so kind as to give me a heads up on the current employment situation in Las Vegas?

I'm planning to return to Las Vegas in a about 6 weeks. Although after hearing about the layoffs at MGM and with first hand knowledge of the seriousness
of our economic situation, I'm thinking that now would be a bad time to move without a job already lined up.
Would anyone be so kind as to give me a heads up on the current employment situation in Las Vegas? |

rhat might be a whole other can of worms being that i work at the wynn gef! ha ha ha..... no really... i didnt realize anything in las vegas until i heard
about mgm a couple days ago... but that is them... maybe they are in some sort of corporate rearrangement... i do think the economy will pick back up
especially in this town by the end of the year... or maybe better say by march 09..... if you can manage your financial affairs till then... you will probably
be okay... if not, you may have to go for extra board somewhere

Do you really want to get back in this business? | ||

Summer will be bad but you should be able to find work in the fall. City Center and Fountainbleu are opening in 2009, they are going to have to hire just not right now. |

no offense to you, I thank you for the pointer, but I don't think I could set foot on a Wynn property, nor do I want to.

I see new Dealers and Floor at Caesars Palace almost weekly (not to be construed or twisted to mean that we are losing dealers to anything other than
retirements and such).

That's interesting. Are these new folks at CP new hires or transfers? I didn't think any places were hiring right now. |

I wrote the HR director at Caesars asking for fair consideration for reinstatement of my previous employment on the basis that I planned my voluntary
termination and left the company on good terms to serve in the US Army. I know they are not obligated to rehire me because I volunteered to join the military
freely, but it never hurts to ask. Besides, as much as I don't want to sound like I'm whining for my job back, you never know who might think highly
of someone who joins the military in a time of war.
From what some friends have told me, Caesars has a pretty good rehire policy, just not so sure if they will create a position just to be nice to one guy. to expect that would be to expect to much I think. I would totally understand if they declined my request on that basis. Just don't for a second think I wont try again when I think there may be a position open. While I was transitioning out of the service, the Army Career alumni program states that 90% of all jobs are not published when the position is filled. I tend to agree with this. You never know who has a planned retirement coming up when my letter hits the HR directors desk. What's the worst they could say? No? |
