Cocktail waitresses are not poker dealers. There are numerous poker rooms in this country where the poker dealers are required to be members of a union to work there. Whether they pool their tips, or not, is absolutely, 100% relevant to the question of whether unionism and pooled tips go hand in hand in the poker industry. Please provide examples of poker rooms which are union, and which do not pool tips, which would validate your position, or concede the point.
This logically flawed -- your premise is that unionism and solidarity require tip pooling top ensure that people are making equal amounts. With that as your premise why would Poker dealing and cocktail waitressing be different in regard to this.
Further lets clarify what we are talking about. How many poker rooms have unionized dealers? i don't know the answer but I'm pretty confident that its a pretty small number. Of that small number i have no idea how many pool tokes. But it doesn't matter because even if 100% of that small number pooled tokes that doesn't mean that pooling tokes is inherent in the nature of dealers unions.
Oh my God. Just how far will you go to avoid admitting you are wrong?
We are discussing unionized poker rooms. Regardless of how many there may, or may not be, any unionized poker rooms are completely relevant to the discussion because they are unionized poker rooms, and we are discussing unionized poker rooms.
Relevant points:
1) Union
2) Poker rooms
In a discussion of unionized poker rooms, nothing can be more relevant than poker rooms, that are union. Nothing.
One more time, please provide examples of poker rooms which require poker dealers to join a union, and which do not require poker dealers to pool tips. Those examples will support your argument.
I know that the MGM Grand and the Motor City Casino in Detroit require poker dealers to join a union, and poker dealers pool tips in those rooms. That supports my position.
If you cannot provide examples of poker rooms that require dealers to join a union and do not require them to pool tips, then your assertion that not all union poker rooms pool tips is false, and you must concede the point.
Also, please post links to the Connecticut Indian Gaming Compact and the references to Mohegan Sun dealers keeping their tips you referred to.
