I heard that the floor supervisors who were terminated (here at the Beau) were given five weeks of pay. They have 45 days to accept. What does that mean?

I don't know about other properties, but Mirage Pit and Floor who did get the layoff were over 65, and were offered 6 months pay to resign

I was going from the earlier post/blog from someone who said they only got 1 week's pay. If they got 6 months severance then that is more than fair. This is just MGM cleaning out their older employees to save on expenses. I wonder, do you think those health surveys that everyone had to fill out played a part? I know that MGM said that they would not have access to them, but...... |

"I heard that the floor supervisors who were terminated (here at the Beau) were given five weeks of pay.
They have 45 days to accept. What does that mean?" What that means is that if you accept the package they offer you then you have no right to sue which in this case is not a bad idea because there is no legal grounds to sue MGM based on layoffs. Any company, especially now in a recession, can legally layoff whoever they want but like some other people said in this thread, they normally get rid of older employees or people they consider problematic. If there is some kind of proof that most of the people laid off were old then maybe MGM can get sued for age discrimination. I'm sure a few lawyers are already working on a lawsuit as we speak.

I'm surprised that anyone still in a pit manager position hasn't already moved on to a more stable position. If I where I pit manager, I would have
seen the writing on the wall five of six years ago. there has never been a better time to rat hole your money because no one is indispensable in the gaming
industry.
the funny thing is, I'm preaching this just as I'm trying to get back in the business. |
