Well, with this kind of an advantage, I want to get as many hands-per-hour in as we can. The trouble is, all our dealers are volunteers and shuffling cards is a big task for most (we deal out of a 6-deck shoe). I estimate that we have anywhere form 15%-30% of the availble gaming time is lost (down) for dealers to shuffle the six decks, cut, and clumsily put them back into the shoe. I want to take the dealers totally out of the shuffling business by simply supplying them with a pre-shuffled and pre-loaded shoe once their present shoe runs out. I have a zillion voluneers who can do this work for us plus we own 2 high- quality auto card shuffling machines so the labor thing is not an issue. And, I'll gladly buy more shoes to handle the job.
The issue is that I see is that players might beef because the deck is not shuffled in their presence and, they won't be able to go through the ritual of cutting the deck and all that baloney--as if it made a difference. Still, I have to sensitive to it because, after all, they pay the bills. I am thinking that if the dealer burns say, 3 cards off the top of the replacent shoe, and shows the players, that would appease the players surrounding the issues I just described. I certainly don't want them to cut the deck because that requires taking all the cards out of the shoe thus defeating the purpose of trying to speed things up. Thoughts?
My other option perhaps would be to get rid of the shoes all together and have the dealers work from say, 2 or 3 decks and deal by hand. That way, they don't have to go all through the gynastics of shuffling 6 deacks, cutting and, putting them back into the show.
Appreciate any input.
Thanks
