Member Posts: 24 03/20/08 08:50	I am planning on moving to Vegas within in the next 6 months I had some questions if anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated: Where is a safe and very affordable area to live in? I heard the UNLV are is affordable, is it safe and conveniently located to the strip? What are the best casinos to work for in terms of how they treat their dealers, and whether or not they don't split tips? Are there any NL or Omaha hi-low limit games for dealers to play in off the clock? If I wanted to someday be a casino host or poker room manager would it make sense to start off as a poker dealer? Is "juice" still as prevalent as it was in the past? What would be the best dealer school to go to? If I was able to find a job as a brush would other dealers at the same casino be willing to teach me how to deal, or would the casino be willing to assist me with this? Also, does anyoen else have any tips that would be beneficial?

He wants to manage a room though... Seriously to the OP what made you decide on Vegas with no experience?

Member Posts: 59 03/21/08 08:43	Hey there, Vegas kind of has to be expierenced. There are bunch of schools that you can get in at, they are all in the yellow pages. Also, it's fairly common to get hired on as a brush, to get a job somewhere, what i'd suggest doing is getting out there going to school, get in anywhere, doesn't matter where, or try to deal something like the orleans open to get your feet wet. As for where to live, pick up an apartment guide when you get to town. I personally like green valley but that can get kinda pricey.

He wants to manage a room though... Seriously to the OP what made you decide on Vegas with no experience? I am not looking to manage right away, but I am looking to gain a foot hold in the gaming industry. The reason I am choosing is that i live in San Diego, and I don't think there is enugh growth potential in terms of a career out here at the Indian casinos. I lived in South Florida most my life, and have interest moving back despite the new pact on gaming. I have been to Louisiana, and it is more like a third world country than gaming hotbed. As for AC, I have heard too many bad things about it, housing is too costly, and it is too cold. I have been to Vegas a couple times, and even though I am not a drinker, partier, drug user, or gambler (not including poker) I do enjoy seeing the excitement of the place even though I may not partake in it. Vegas also seems to have the most long term potential for as way of having a career in gaming.

I am looking for a studio around $500-$600 month, and I heard there are several places at UNLV where I could live at that place. Is it a safe neighborhood is all I am curious about?
