Depends on a lot of factors where you live now? DO you want to move to Indiana? Why the desire to learn/deal poker? You don't really give much info. except
I make, 50k with 6 weeks off a year. Heck you never dealt poker and you want to give all that up?

If you dont take the job, tell them I'll take it!
Seriously, it depends on you. I think that you will make just about the same amount of money if TFT, but you will be giving up seniority. Also, the weather sucks there, and do you have kids? How does your current cost of living compare to the Chicagoland area? Maybe you should visit the area and find out where exactly the casino is and what part of town you will be living in. Find out where your kids will be going to school, (if you have any)...... |

I don't know what the situation is in Indiana, but right now out here in Vegas Poker dealers are getting laid off, those who still have jobs often find
there hours cut and there are going to be more cuts.
I know several poker dealers who had significant Pit Experience before moving to poker who have been trying to get back into the pit and finding it impossible to even get auditions. So keep in mind that once you make the switch, it may not be so easy to go back. |

I actually went from a pit dealer/poker dealer to full time poker supevisor. I would do anything to go back to dealing. Currently i make 56k a year, 200hrs of
vacation a year which includes sick pay, bonus possibility. work 5 (8hr shifts). Take home about 750 a week.
I totally regret making this choice. Currently my poker dealers are making an average of 1200 take home a week. Working less then 40hrs since they can EO. (Early Off) I am paid salary so always working 8-9hrs a day. I have to open/close games, chip run, board person, dealer rotation, and cashier. It is a lot more work then others think. Most of the time when you keep your own you will make more then someone on salary. Depends on what casino you work for. If you keep or share. Also depends on speed and customer service. There is a lot to think before jumping. I totally regret my decision but i partly did it since i am friends with the poker room manager.. |
