I'm just starting a new job in a casino that trains personnel in-house, but as I've done most of the games elsewhere, I'm being auditioned without
going through all their programs. Last night was pai-gow poker. Sat down, shuffled, and started handing out the cards counter-clockwise, as I had been taught
at dealer school in Las Vegas. I was stopped immediately by the pit boss auditioning me and asked what I was doing. She told me that in pai gow poker the
count from the random number generator is always made clockwise, and the hands are also delivered clockwise. I politely said that's not how I was taught
but I'd be happy to adapt. (Ended up passing the audition, so all's well.)
A short check online suggested that practice varies depending on the casino. In some houses, the count is made clockwise but the hands delivered counter-clockwise. In others it's the reverse. In some both procedures go clockwise; in others both go counter-clockwise.
I'm just interested in a little informal survey -- where do you deal (don't have to give the name of the casino, just a general description -- downtown LV, LV strip, LV off-strip, etc. -- and which way you go on PGP?
