When I played dice on the streets of Chicago in the 50s & 60s any 4 was called little joe from kokomo. In the 90s someone asked why it was called that on a dice board, www.recreationalgambling.craps.com or something like that. Some of us tried but we never found out. I emailed a radio show who referred me to a local fire dept etc. But no one ever came up with where the Kokomo came from.

He would seem to imply either hard or easy, however, he also seems to imply it must be coming-out on a four or making it. BTW Psand: where did you get the great icon? Did you make that your self?

I heard a dealer refer to the four as "Little Joe the wrestler . . . he's small but awful hard to throw"

don't know if that is the derivation or just another variation.

I can't answer you question, but an old timer at my casino gets frustrated when dealers call easy four little joe and said it only applies to the hard four. I tend to listen when the wise ones talk.

I dont know the origin of the "little joe". But on a similar note, I have heard a player call the hard 4 a "Happy Joe"....has anyone else heard of this one?
