Just got my copy of the new expanded edition of the Professional Poker Dealer's Handbook. While I continue to recommend this book for all poker dealers, this expanded edition is not significantly different than the previous edition. If you already have the book there is no reason to by the latest edition. Player tables winning hand for side pot and then takes the cards and mucks, can he collect main pot?

Player A wins with nuts and collects side pot over Player B. Player A then takes his table cards, turn them face down, and mucks it quickly. The dealer confuse for a while has the cards in his hand but did not immediately put it in the muck, Player A says "Oh wait I forgot about the main pot". Showing cards when all in

Hello all.

The other day I had to argue with one of my players at the table. This is the situation:

Three players all in, but one on them didn't want to show is cards and mucked his hand without showing his hand. The others players complain cause they say that the rule is that every time there is an 'all in' all the players involved must be showed their hands even before the dealer deals the River.

cutting the deck

Just a quick question regarding cutting the deck. I was recently playing a game at my local casino where the players take it turns to deal.........on a particular hand the dealer offered the deck to a player to be cut.....he declined and then the dealer offered it to the next player - which started a very heated debate. The question is....does the deck need to be cut on every deal and does this rule apply in organised tournaments (i.e. does the dealer always have to cut the deck).

It seems there are no break-in poker jobs....someone told me you can start as a cashier and see if you can move up. Does anyone know how much cashiers make? Does the money come from dealers tipping you out?

Hands per hour

I'm trying to get some stats on hands per hour. A couple of threads I have read through on this site are quoting anywhere between 30-40 per hour. I have also seen the term "downs" referred to which I am guessing is half an hour; is that correct?

I would like to attend a Poker dealing school in the Las Vegas valley. Some of the canidates Im considering are The Crescent school of dealing. American S.O.D and Tony Shelton's dealing school. I actually heard a rumor that American went out of business so I might have to scratch that one out. Anybody know anything about these schools or any other schools in the Vegas???

I just finished dealing at the HPT for my first dealing job and ran into some shady players (and many more to come).

Heads up - Player A (seat #8 ) goes all in, Player B (seat 4) thinks for a while, slowly picks up his card protector (3 second pause), slowly picks up his cards (3 second pause), then quickly move his cards about 10 inches towards player on seat 3 as if he is folding all...

Pot-Limit Omaha..... is there an easy way to figure how much a person can bet/raise in this game? Example... SB $10, BB $20, 2 callers at $20, a raise to $70,.... how much is the next person's bet if he wants to bet the pot? How do you do this in your head "quickly"? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Although verbal declarations as to the contents of a hand are not binding, deliberately miscalling a hand with the intent of causing another player to discard a winning hand is unethical and may result in forfeiture of the pot.
